Online Interior Design: What is it and How does it work?

Online interior design, also known as e-design or remote interior design, can be confusing for those who have never heard of it before, especially for those torn between in person and online interior designers. So, what is the difference?

What is Online Interior Design/E-Design?

Online Interior design is an affordable and convenient way for clients seeking professional interior design services without committing to a full-service interior. This cost-effective option becomes feasible as interior designers skip site visits, leaving clients responsible for measurements, purchases, and installations. The absence of site visits also means that clients can collaborate with designers globally, making online interior design an attractive choice for a single room refresh or a comprehensive house makeover.

The Advantages of Online Interior Design

Cost

Many shy away from full-service interior design due to cost concerns. Online interior design addresses this by involving the clients in tasks like measuring the space, purchasing products, and handling installations. If you are comfortable with these responsibilities, online interior design offers an affordable means to access professional interior design services.

Time

Online interior design typically outpaces full-service interior design in terms of speed. Without the need for in person visits, the process becomes more streamlined. Completing an online design often takes just a few weeks, leaving clients with the flexibility to order and install at their own pace.

Flexibility

With online interior design, you won’t ever meet your interior designer in person. This opens up possibilities, allowing you to choose from a vast amount of designers located anywhere in the world.

The Online Interior Design Process

Brief

As interior designers, we know that every project is unique. That’s why at Jola Interiors, our online interior design projects kick off with a comprehensive brief. This is undertaken entirely online through a detailed questionnaire, accompanied by measurements and photos of the space. Don’t worry, we have a guide to help you measure your space. A video call may also be arranged to delve deeper into your project.

Concept Design

Following the brief, we begin crafting layouts and initial concept ideas. This is where the design starts taking shape, showcasing key elements like sofas, coffee tables, rugs etc. if it was for a living room design. Don’t worry if we aren’t 100% happy with the design as we offer revisions as part of our service.

Final Design

Once the concept design aligns with your vision, we transition to creating final visuals and compiling a shopping list, encompassing everything from paint colours to lighting and window treatments.

Bringing the Design to Life

With the issued design in your hands, it’s your turn to purchase items and engage any trades if necessary. Rest assured, we offer ongoing online support to address any questions or concerns you may encounter during this phase.

Note: The online interior design process at Jola Interiors may vary based on the chosen package, and we provide detailed explanations before commencing the journey.

We hope this has helped you understand the world of online interior design! Whether you’re looking for an online interior designer or full service in person interior designers, Jola Interiors extends to both options. Feel free to drop a query on our contact page, and we’ll reach out to discuss how we can bring your design aspirations to life.
